I would have guessed pervasive substance abuse, crime, poverty and lack of education contributed more to the rape and sexual assaults on Native American women, but I don’t know much about it.
That’s because you don’t seem to be aware that these assaults are largely committed by white men not from any reservations. The things you listed are a result of colonization and genocide as a whole. The former is caused by erasure and fetishization by said colonizers.

I stand by comment on how arrogant people on tumblr are. A blog called “thisisrapeculture” claims to know the exact cause of sexual assault on reservations. This person, who obviously has a Masters degree in Native American studies, is attributing modern issues to colonization. Colonization happened 600 years ago. but this person knows so much about these people that we should disregard her most ignorant anachronism and reblog this post with our approval as if we’re helping anything by sitting in fornt of a computer. Whoever this blogger is, is making the problem worse by acting like Indians are conquered slaves rather than caring enough to figure out what the real problem is. Furthermore, this person acts like he or she actually does care because maybe they read something on the internet somewhere about Indians and their blog is probably all about “supporting feminism” and females of all cultures. One blogger does not have the capacity to understand all cultures and I wish they would stop pretending to. The picture they are painting of modern Indians is hardly better than the one this picture portrays.
